Already have some random giving me shit for racing a Dodge Neon SRT4 at the local 1/4 mile. Ok. Just went there for a test and tune session.
Random person also just had a bunch of random google image cars.
Cool idea but it’s going to be flooded with the type of people that comment on YouTube videos.
And the UI annoys me.

I like how the main page shows posts from everyone you follow... that’s kind of how I thought oppo worked at first, that only the stuff from people you follow would show up on your main feed, like facebook I guess (although that’s not even entirely true anymore).
It also like that it includes perspectives from all over the world.
I do worry though, when it’s open to The Public, will it be filled with YouTube commenter types? Maybe that’s the reason they’re sticking with FB only logins at this point, to keep people a little more honest at least?? I can’t think of another reason they wouldn’t allow Google logins.
The UI is... a work in progress to be sure. Sometimes I really like it, other times I find it clunky and unresponsive.

I’m already in too many car groups that I can’t imagine keeping up with this one. That UI is simply devastating. The site feels basic and bare bones but yet it’s a shit and a half to navigate.

Idk if Facebook logins will keep people honest. ESPN tried that a few years back and people are still trollish shitheads in those comment sections.
And here’s the problem with the Facebook login: there’s already a lot of great car groups ON Facebook using their UI. So much more convenient and easy to use. That’s going to be hard to beat. I hardly even use forums anymore because of what’s offered already on Facebook.

I do think that it’ll get up to speed relatively quickly, and I like that you can join groups that you care about, which is something I’ve missed here on oppo. Shameless self-plug time - I’ve actually created a tribe for those who occasionally race themselves, with the intention of sharing our own racing stories, instead of just following Loeb, Vettel or other racing superstars.
